HC Deb 17 November 1919 vol 121 c619
60. Mr. HURD

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that railway enployés who remained at or resumed work during the recent strike are being subjected to annoyance of a serious kind because of their loyalty to the State; and whether, in the general interests of industrial peace, he will invite the unions concerned to assist the Government in carrying out the terms of the settlement and to ensure that no man shall be prejudiced in any way as a result of the strike?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Sir Rhys Williams)

I would refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply on this subject given to the hon. and gallant Member for the Dulwich Division of Camberwell on the 13th November, of which I am sending him a copy. So far as I am aware the responsible officials of the Unions concerned are carrying out the terms of settlement. But if the hon. Member will give me authentic instances of victimisation they will be looked into at once and I feel sure I shall receive the co-operation of the trade union leaders in taking the necessary steps.
