§ 43. Major HILLSasked the Minister of' Health whether there was a sufficiency of labour for building the houses contemplated under the Housing Act; and, if not, in what way he proposed to remedy the deficiency?
§ Dr. ADDISONThere is a shortage of building labour, and the progress of some housing schemes under the Housing Act is already being hampered thereby. I am in touch with the Ministry of Labour and with the Building Resettlement Committee of the Joint Industrial Council of the Building Trade, who are investigating posible means of remedying the deficiency.
§ Major HILLSCan we expect an announcement of policy shortly?
§ Dr. ADDISONI am doing everything I possibly can to press it on. The hon. Member knows how exceedingly difficult it is.
