HC Deb 06 November 1919 vol 120 cc1661-2
56. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can state the number of houses in respect of which he estimates that a subsidy of £10,000,000 will be payable by the Exchequer in a normal year?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Chamberlain)

The figure was inserted in the White Paper after communication with the three Departments concerned, whose estimates covered approximately 600,000 houses.
