HC Deb 19 March 1919 vol 113 cc2063-4
2. Colonel YATE

asked whether officers of the Indian Army placed on the perma- nent half-pay list before the outbreak of war, but liable to recall and actually recalled for service during the War, have been refused the revised scale of invalid pensions published in Army Instruction (India) No. 363 of 1918; and, if so, will he reconsider the question in view of the hardship involved?

Mr. FISHER

The liability of certain retired officers of the Indian Army to be recalled to duty in India has never been considered to apply to officers on the permanent half-pay list, and no officers on that list have been recalled to duty in India, though some have offered their services to, and have been employed by, the War Office. If, notwithstanding this explanation, the hon. and gallant Member still wishes to pursue the subject, perhaps he will give me particulars of any case or cases that he has in mind.
