HC Deb 03 March 1919 vol 113 cc29-30
41. Sir PHILIP MAGNUS

asked the First Commissioner of Works for what purpose the covered passage between the South Kensington railway station and the Post Office at the corner of Imperial Institute Road has been closed; and whether, having regard to the inconvenience caused thereby to professors, teachers, and students of the University of London, he will arrange to re-open to the public that covered way as soon as possible?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Sir A. Mond)

The passage referred to by the hon. Member was closed in order to provide storage space for exhibits removed from the Imperial Institute to allow of the accommodation in that building thus released being utilised by the staff of the Food Controller. I am, however, arranging to reopen this covered way to the public at the earliest possible date.

Sir P. MAGNUS

When is it likely to be re-opened?

Sir A. MOND

I hope very soon.
