§ 29. Brigadier-General CROFTasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the fact that the Glasgow corporation has placed an order for 5,000 tons of steel rails with the United States of America; and whether, in view of the disastrous effect upon employment, he will take immediate steps to announce the economic policy of the country for the preservation of British industries and for the employment of British workers who are at present receiving unemployment benefit?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANMy attention has been called to a statement in the Press to this effect. The announcement of the economic policy of the Government will not be unnecessarily delayed.
§ Brigadier-General CROFTIn view of the extreme importance of this contract to the unemployed of this country I will call attention to this on the Adjournment.
