HC Deb 30 June 1919 vol 117 c617
89. Sir KINGSLEY WOOD

asked the Secretary to the Local Government Board, as representing the National Health Insurance Commissioners, whether he has received representations as to the necessity of a revision of the contributions and benefits under the National Health Insurance Acts; whether the same has been considered by the Advisory Committee; and whether he can make any announcement on the matter?

Major ASTOR

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and the matter is now under consideration of the Ministry, and the Advisory Committee has been consulted. Any revision of health insurance contributions and benefits, which it must be remembered would only be possible by legislation, must be considered, however, not only in relation to the financial scheme of the Acts, but also in relation to possible developments of unemployment insurance, and I am not at present in a position to make any statement on the subject.
