§ 38. Mr. G. THORNEasked the Secretary of State for War whether civilian members of the staff of the records office of the Army Service Corps at Woolwich, the majority of whom are demobilised men who have seen active service, are receiving less pay than the men still serving who have never been to the front or done any fighting; and, if so, whether he will put an end to this inequality?
§ Mr. FORSTERI can add nothing to my reply to the hon. Member for Ealing on the 10th instant.
§ 39. Mr. THORNEasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that civilian male members of the staff of the records office of the Army Service Corps at Woolwich were given two days; holiday on account of the Peace celebrations and that their pay was deducted for the two days; whether the men. still serving and the women members of the staff were paid for the holiday; and whether, in view of the fact that the majority of the civilian members of the staff are demobilised men who have seen active service, he will see that this grievance is redressed?
§ Mr. FORSTEROne day's holiday with pay was authorised for civilian employès, whether male or female. I am enquiring into the failure to carry out this order, 1928 which appears to have taken place at Woolwich, and will communicate with my hon. Friend in due course.
