HC Deb 14 April 1919 vol 114 c2484
40. Sir H. HARRIS

asked the First Commissioner of Works when the portion of Kensington Gardens lying to the east of the Long Water will be reopened to the public; whether steps are being taken to restore the land to its former condition; is he aware that several fine elms have recently been felled; and will he state why?

Sir A. MOND

The portion of Kensington Gardens referred to will be reopened to the public as soon as the military occupation has ceased, which it is hoped will be by June next. The necessary steps have been taken to restore the land. Five trees (two elms, two limes, and one horse chestnut), which were in a dying condition, have been removed, in order to improve the appearance of the gardens?
