HC Deb 29 January 1918 vol 101 cc1417-8
26. Colonel ASHLEY

asked the Financia Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that Private R. Barrett, No. 36865, late of the Suffolk Regiment, was in Section A of the Army Reserve at the outbreak of war; that a few days before 4th August, 1914, he had signed an undertaking continuing to serve in Section D when his Section A service expired in December, 1914; that he was, therefore, at the outbreak of war actually serving in Section A; and that, in consequence of his having re-engaged prior to the War in Section D, he has been deprived of his bounty; and whether, in view of this man's three wounds and the excellence of his record in the Army, he will take steps to have his case regarded as a special one and the bounty issued to him?

Mr. FORSTER

Inquiry is being made, and I will let my hon. and gallant Friend know the result.
