HC Deb 17 January 1918 vol 101 c490
51. Mr. LYNCH

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of his statement that the terms of peace must not be dictated by the interests of any dynasty, he will now take steps to apply this doctrine in its purity through all diplomatic, military, and administrative acts, and will, in particular, disengage from the work of the Government all men, no matter how highly placed, whose actions have been detrimental to the country on account of subservience to dynastic interests?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The Government will not employ anyone whose action, in their opinion, has been detrimental to the interests of the country.

Mr. LYNCH

Then why employ King Constantine, who is paid indirectly out of money paid by the Exchequer?
