HC Deb 17 January 1918 vol 101 cc489-90
50. Mr. LYNCH

asked the Prime Minister whether he can state the present occupant of the office of Ranger of Windsor Great Park, the salary attached to the post, and the nature of the duties; and whether, if the office be a sinecure, he will take steps in accordance with the demands of national economy to abolish this office and save the emoluments to the Treasury?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The office of Ranger of Windsor Great Park, which became vacant on the death of His late Royal Highness the Prince Christian, has been assumed by His Majesty the King. No salary is attached to the post.

Mr. LYNCH

Was there not a salary previously attached to this post?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I do not know, but no salary is attached to it now.

An HON. MEMBER

Why not abolish it?
