HC Deb 17 January 1918 vol 101 cc501-2
95. Major BARNSTON

asked the President of the Board of Education what is the approximate estimate of the yearly increased cost to the taxpayers and ratepayers of the country of the Education Bill?

96. Mr. HOLT

asked the President of the Board of Education the estimated additional annual charge on the rates and the Exchequer, respectively, involved by the provisions of the Education (No. 2) Bill?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Herbert Fisher)

I have, of course, considered the question of the cost of the Education Bill, and discussed it with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, but I do not think it is possible to deal with a matter of such complexity by way of question and answer.
