HC Deb 17 January 1918 vol 101 c501
94. Colonel GRETTON

asked the Secretary to the Treasury when the liquidation of the German banks in London will be concluded; and if it is the intention of the Government that these banks shall be wound up finally and immediately

Mr. D. WARD

I have been asked to reply to this question. It is not possible for me to state when the liquidation of the German banks in London will be concluded, and I would refer the hon. Member for Rutland to the recent Report made by Sir William Plender to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, which has been published as a White Paper.

Colonel GRETTON

Can the hon. Gentleman answer the last part of the question and say whether it is the policy and intention of the Government to wind up these banks finally?

Mr. WARD

The answer to that is given in the last part of the reply.
