HC Deb 17 January 1918 vol 101 c502
97. Captain Sir C. BATHURST

asked the President of the Board of Education of whom the Board now consists; whether and how often it meets; and whether, in the reorganisation of the national system of education, it is proposed to amend the constitution of the Board or vitalise its activities?

Mr. FISHER

The Board consists of a President, the Lord President of the Council (unless he is appointed President of the Board), His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, the First Commissioner of His Majesty's Treasury, and the Chancellor of the Exchequer. I have no record of any meeting of the Board. No proposal has been made to amend the constitution of this dignified body.

Captain Sir C. BATHURST

Has not the time arrived to abolish this undignified body altogether?
