HC Deb 15 April 1918 vol 105 cc34-5
50. Colonel L. WILSON

asked the Prime Minister when, in view of the hardships now suffered by local residents in districts close to London owing to the rush from London of aliens frightened by air raids, it is proposed to introduce the Increase of Rent (Amendment) Bill?

Mr. BONAR LAW

As My right hon. Friend the Patronage Secretary announced on Saturday, I hope, if time permits, that it will be possible for the Second Reading of the Increase of Rent (Amendment) Bill to be taken on Wednesday next.

Colonel WILSON

In the view of the necessity for urgency in this matter, will the right hon. Gentleman take all the stages of this Bill on Wednesday?

Mr. BONAR LAW

We shall take it as rapidly as possible.

Mr. BILLING

If there is any further delay, will the right hon. Gentleman do something by Order in Council to protect British people in this country from these most objectionable aliens?
