HC Deb 15 April 1918 vol 105 c35
51. Mr. KING

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the disappointment in the delayed progress with the Education Bill, he will reconsider the sending of the Bill to a Grand Committee?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I have so far received no indication that the course suggested would be generally desired by the House.

Mr. KING

Does the right hon. Gentleman not realise that Irish legislation must now postpone, for several weeks at any rate, the taking of the Education Bill, whereas if it was sent to a Committee upstairs it could be got on with at once?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The hon. Gentleman will see from my answer that I do not preclude the possibility of such a course.

Sir J. D. REES

Has the Government considered the propriety of confining the business of the Session to the question of the provision of men and money for the War?
