HC Deb 28 June 1917 vol 95 cc536-7
76. Sir E. PARROTT

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether the Committees on the teaching of science and foreign languages set up in connection with the educational inquiry include Scotland in their purview; if so will he explain why only one non-official representative Scotsman finds a place on the Committees mentioned; and whether, in view of Scotland's distinctive educational position, he will consider the desirability of the appointment of special Scottish Committees for the purpose indicated above?

Mr. MUNRO

As to the first part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the terms of reference to the Committees, which show that in both cases the reference extends to the educational systems of Great Britain. As to the second part of the question, the interests of Scotland are, in my judgment, adequately provided for. I will consider the suggestion made in the latter part of the question on receiving the Reports of the present Committees.
