HC Deb 25 June 1917 vol 95 cc22-3
46. Sir GEORGE GREENWOOD

asked the Prime Minister whether the Home Office and the War Office have now come to an agreement as to the administrative action to be taken in order to protect the oversea troops from venereal disease; and whether he can state what form such action will take?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The military and police authorities are already using such powers as they possess to deal with the evil referred to in the question, and it appears doubtful whether more can be done without legislation, but the matter is receiving constant consideration.

Mr. PRINGLE

Will the light hon. Gentleman say what steps are taken to prevent men suffering from these diseases being recruited into the Army?
