HC Deb 13 June 1917 vol 94 c947
28. Colonel YATE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, in view of the necessity of making as many officers as possible fit for general service, he will consider the question of amending the Regulations which at present prevent officers, who only require dental treatment to render them fit for service overseas, from receiving this treatment by Army dental officers and thus place officers on the same footing as non-commissioned officers and men, in whose case dental treatment is ordered to be carried out with all despatch at the public expense?

Mr. FORSTER

There is no evidence before the War Office to suggest that dental deficiencies are preventing officers otherwise qualified from proceeding abroad.

Colonel YATE

Will my right hon. Friend take this into consideration? My information is that there are various officers who cannot afford treatment, and it would be a great thing if the Government would do it.

Mr. FORSTER

I will look into the matter further if my hon. and gallant Friend will give mc the information.
