HC Deb 12 June 1917 vol 94 c750
18. Mr. ACLAND ALLEN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Shipping Controller whether he is aware that the bulk of the workers in the Clyde area will be stopping work for from eight to ten days about 12th July; whether, in view of the desirability of them being able to get away from the large towns during their holiday, he will endeavour to arrange with the shipowners to increase temporarily the steamboat services?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of SHIPPING (Sir Leo Chiozza Money)

The Shipping Controller is in entire sympathy with the suggestion in the question, and while there is difficulty in making additional vessels available my hon. Friend may feel assured that everything practicable will be done to meet the requirements of the workers on the Clyde during their holidays.
