HC Deb 04 July 1917 vol 95 c1093
84. Major HUNT

asked whether soldiers who have lost their reason as a result of the War are sent to asylums; if single men, whether their dependants get any allowance; and, if not, whether this regulation will be altered?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the Ministry of PENSIONS (Sir A. Griffith-Boscawen)

The answer to the first two parts of the question is in the affirmative. Arrangements have been made under Article 6 of the Royal Warrant by which soldiers and sailors who are disabled by reason of mental unfitness will be treated specially as "service" patients. In this connection I would refer the hon. Member to the answers given to the hon. Member for Kirkdale and the hon. Member for Anglesey on the 26th instant, in which I explained in some detail the arrangements in force.
