HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 c1319
49. Mr. GIN NELL

asked on what principle and under what Statute or Regulation conscientious objectors, so found by the revision section of the Central Tribunal, who have been released to work under the Home Office scheme, and do not comply with Regulations of the Home Office, are handed over to the military authorities?

Mr. MACPHERSON

The principle should be well known to the hon. Member if he has followed the various questions and debates which have been raised in this House on the subject. The Regulations are those which govern the transfer of soldiers to Section W of the Army Reserve and their recall therefrom to military service.

Mr. SNOWDEN

Will the hon. Gentleman say by what legal authority men who have been certified by a tribunal as being exempt from military service on the ground of conscientious objection are sent to the Army?

Mr. MACPHERSON

These men are not certified.

Mr. SNOWDEN

They are!
