HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 cc1318-9
40. Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he will have an investigation made into the case of Private J. Plumb, No. 27,334, C Company, 3rd Cameron Highlanders, Invergordon, who is turned forty-one years of age, and who was passed by the medical board for C2 class and who registered for munition work, but instead of being provided with such work was sent to Invergordon; will lie note for inquiry that on the 18th January the Director of Recruiting stated that this man had been enrolled with a view to using him as a substitute in a munitions firm, but immediately after this Private Plumb was summoned before a medical board and put into A1 class, though no examination was made of him, and if, after inquiry, these facts are substantiated, will he have this man used as a substitute for munition work, for which he is specially qualified?

Mr. MACPHERSON

Inquiry is being made, and my hon. Friend will be informed of the result.
