HC Deb 12 February 1917 vol 90 cc265-6
43. Mr. KING

asked the Home Secretary whether, as a result of the judgment de- livered by the Lord Chief Justice on 11th January in Rex v. the Secretary of State for the Home Department, he intends to drop his policy of forcible deportation to Russia of those Russian subjects of military age who refuse to enlist here, or whether he intends to introduce legislation to enable him to deport aliens to any particular country?

Sir G. CAVE

The decision in the case mentioned is under appeal, and in the meantime the judgment of the Court will, of course, be observed. I am not prepared to make any statement on the subject of legislation at the present time.
