HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 cc2400-1
84. Mr. W. YOUNG

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the Caledonian Railway have intimated to the fruit growers of Perthshire that the Railway Executive Committee have decided to suspend the issue of cheap tickets to fruit pickers in Perthshire during the coming fruit-picking season; and, if so, seeing that this is an obstacle to the harvesting of the home-grown fruit crop, more especially having regard to the existing shortage of labour, and in view of the importance of securing the home grown fruit crop, whether he will under take to review the decision?

Mr. ROBERTS

I am making inquiries on this subject, and will let the hon. Gentleman know the result.
