HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 c2376
5. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty the amount of compensation claimed by the boat owners and fishermen of Dingle Bay for the loss imposed upon them during the autumn fishing season by the Admiralty restriction of the area in which they were allowed to fish and consequently the class of boats they were allowed to use; if any offer has been made to them, will he state the amount; whether the question of amount will be submitted to arbitration; and, in the event of an agreement, how soon the money will be available?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)

The amount of compensation which the Boatowners and Fishermen of Dingle Bay have claimed in their application to the Defence of the Realm Losses Royal Commission is understood to be £9,680. As regards the second, third, and fourth parts of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on the 28th March to a similar question by the hon. Member for Cork County West.
