This prohibition appears to be due to the fact that the rules of the Bengal and Madras Service Family Pension Fund are largely modelled on those of an older Bengal Fund to which officials employed in other Presidencies were not allowed to 2376 subscribe. If the hon. Member so desires, I will ask the Government of India for further information.
