HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 c2376
19. Mr. CHANCELLOR

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he has received any complaints of shortage of food in the Training Reserve Battalion at Aldershot; if rations have lately been reduced; if he is aware that youths have to buy food and to ask for parcels from home in order to assuage their hunger; and if he will make inquiry and remove the cause of such complaints if found to be justified?

Mr. MACPHERSON

When the bread ration in the Army was reduced from 16 ozs. to 14 ozs. representations were made that young men under nineteen required the full pound, and instructions have now been given for the issue of the full pound in the battalion referred to and in similar battalions.
