HC Deb 04 April 1917 vol 92 cc1292-3
72. Major NEWMAN

asked the Secretary to the Local Government Board whether he proposes to increase the available man-power of the country by recommending to the Metropolitan Water-Board to release for National Service of their collectors of water rates and transferring their duties to the various local authorities; and has he received representations from any local authorities urging him to adopt the course suggested?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Hayes Fisher)

I may refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to the question which he put on 21st March, 1916. No representations; have been received from local authorities on this subject.

Major NEWMAN

Has the right hon. Gentleman received any representations from any ratepayers' associations or other public bodies?

Mr. HAYES FISHER

I must have notice of that.
