HC Deb 18 October 1916 vol 86 c547
83. Mr. ANDERSON

asked the Minister of Munitions how many convictions up to the present have been recorded against workmen under the Munitions of War Act and how many against employers?

Mr. PRIMROSE

The number of convictions recorded up to 30th September, 1916, against workmen under the Munitions of War Acts is 13,649. The number of those recorded against employers up to the same date is 193. In addition to this, it should be stated that in 889 cases compensation has been awarded against employers for failure to comply with the provisions of Section 5 of the Munitions of War (Amendment) Act, 1916. The hon. Member will realise that the number of employés who come under the Act is altogether out of proportion to the number of firms similarly affected.
