HC Deb 17 October 1916 vol 86 c356
76. Major NEWMAN

asked what measures have been taken to secure for the Army men of military age in Government and private positions in the Crown Colonies; and whether it is intended or is possible to apply the terms of the Military Service Act to British subjects of military age at present residing in France and the United States of America?

Mr. FORSTER

In answer to the first part of my hon. and gallant Friend's question there is no evidence to suggest that men in Government employment or in private positions in the Crown Colonies have been behindhand in offering themselves for military service. In answer to the second part of the question, the terms of the Military Service Acts do not apply to British subjects of military age ordinarily resident in foreign countries.
