HC Deb 17 October 1916 vol 86 cc356-7
77. Mr. DORIS

asked the Secretary of State for War why Michael Grimes, an Irish migratory labourer, now a private, No. 4823, G company, 3rd battalion, King's Liverpool Regiment, Llanion Barracks, Pembroke Docks, North Wales, was forced by the military authorities to enter the Army at Liverpool, although he protested on the grounds that he was not ordinarily resident in Great Britain, but in Roughaun, Liscarney, county Mayo; and will steps be taken to have the case investigated and Grimes discharged from the Army on proof that he is not liable to compulsory service under the Military Service Acts?

Mr. FORSTER

I am having inquiry made into this case, and when the Report is received I will communicate with my hon. Friend.
