HC Deb 21 November 1916 vol 87 c1182
10. General Sir IVOR HERBERT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is in a position to make any statement as to the attitude taken up by the Governments of the Allied Powers in regard to the decision recently proclaimed at Warsaw to set up a kingdom of Poland out of the territories now in the occupation of the German forces, and to raise a Polish Army?

Lord R. CECIL

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the communiqués that have appeared in the Press containing the protests of the Allied Governments, and also to the statement of the Prime Minister and M. Briand which was published last week.

Sir IVOR HERBERT

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the realisation of the hopes of the Polish people of a union and autonomy is now placed by His Majesty's Government side by side with the reconstitution of Belgium and Serbia?

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Gentleman had better give notice of that question.
