HC Deb 16 November 1916 vol 87 c992
45. Mr. LYNCH

asked the Chief Secretary whether he can give the statutory authority which enables a resident magistrate in Ireland to exclude from the hearing of a case justices of the peace who are actually sitting on the bench with him?

Mr. DUKE

I believe this matter has been under consideration by judges of the King's Bench Division in Ireland after, as I am told, a very full argument. I have not yet been informed of the view taken by the Court.

Mr. LYNCH

When the right hon. Gentleman becomes aware of the decision will he communicate it to us?

Mr. DUKE

If it will be for the convenience of the hon. Member I will take care it is communicated to him, and if a question is put I will communicate it to the House.

Mr. LYNCH

I will put it down for Tuesday.

Mr. DUKE

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will make it Wednesday.

Mr. LYNCH

Certainly.
