HC Deb 15 November 1916 vol 87 cc778-9
53. Mr. ANDERSON

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn to complaints respecting the quantity and quality of food supplied to the soldiers at Codford Camp, Wiltshire; whether the food arrangements are in the hands of con tractors; and whether he will cause independent investigation to be made?

Mr. FORSTER

I have received a complaint with regard to the messing arrangements of one of the battalions at Codford Camp, and the matter is now under investigation. The troops are rationed in the ordinary way and receive in addition the 5½d. messing allowance, which they spend through their canteens.
