HC Deb 15 November 1916 vol 87 c779
54. Colonel HOPE

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consider the desirability of allowing soldiers whose real age is proved to be fifty and over, and who are now serving in the trenches, to be sent home or utilised behind the firing line in the same manner as soldiers under nineteen are dealt with under Army Council Instruction 1905 of 1916?

Mr. FORSTER

This is a matter which rests with the discretion of the military authorities in France.
