HC Deb 09 May 1916 vol 82 c437
10. Sir ROBERT PRICE

asked the Under-Secretary for War if the kit allowance of an officer going to India is £20 while the kit allowance of an officer going to Mesopotamia is £5 10s.; and, if so, what is the reason for such a difference?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

Yes, Sir. These allowances are additional to the normal grants for outfit and are as stated. That for India covers the provision of articles of outfit (including mess kit) not required in Mesopotamia.
