35. Mr. BARLOW

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the recommendation of the Report of the Sub-Committe of the Advisory Committee that the joint stock banks should be invited by His Majesty's Government, so soon as opportunity offers, to consider the possibility of affording a greater measure of assistance to British industrial enterprise, any invitation has been issued to the banks along these lines?

No action of the kind suggested has yet been taken, but the whole question of trade credit facilities is being investigated.
