HC Deb 16 March 1916 vol 80 cc2245-6
44. Mr. WATT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in relation to the new Order prohibiting the import of dried and canned fruits, contracts which have been placed for some time and for which space on vessels has been booked will be allowed to come in in the same way as goods in transit; and, if not, how it is proposed to deal with the booked tonnage?

Mr. PRETYMAN

The Fruit Licensing Committee have carefully considered this question in respect of a vessel on which space had been booked prior to 27th January for fruit packed in fulfilment of last year's contracts, and it has been decided that the fruits so booked should be allowed to be imported subject to certain guarantees.
