HC Deb 31 July 1916 vol 84 c2054
37. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make arrangements for the release of the wounded Irish prisoners on their discharge from the Dublin hospitals; if he will allow them to be tried before an Advisory Committee sitting in Dublin; and if he is aware that those who are being discharged from hospital are unfit to travel to Frongoch Camp or to London to take their trial?

Mr. SAMUEL

Those who were fit to travel have been brought to Frongoch, and their cases were heard by the Advisory Committee last Friday. Five men still remain in hospital in Dublin. General Maxwell has recommended to me that, in view of the medical reports upon them, these five should not now be interned, and I propose to act accordingly.

Mr. BYRNE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that three of those men have had to be carried on stretchers from Bala to Frongoch Camp, and are they receiving medical treatment?

Mr. SAMUEL

I am not aware of that fact. There is a medical officer at Frongoch Camp.
