HC Deb 10 January 1916 vol 77 cc1274-5
59. Mr. D. WHITE

asked, as regards those who have enlisted in the Army from the commencement of the War to the end of the year 1915, what percentage were single and. what percentage were married men?

Mr. TENNANT

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for the Haggerston Division on the 6th January.

60. Mr. WHITE

asked what percentage of the population has enlisted in the Army from the commencement of the War to the end of the year 1915 in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, respectively?

Mr. TENNANT

I am afraid I must not yield to the temptation of satisfying my hon. Friend's thirst for information.

61. Mr. WHITE

asked how many applicants for enlistment in the Army were rejected as medically unfit from the commencement of the War to the beginning of the attestations under Lord Derby's scheme, distinguishing the single from the married?

Mr. TENNANT

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for the Medway Division on the 6th January, and I would add that the War Office have no means of differentiating between married and single men who were rejected before Lord Derby's scheme came into operation.
