HC Deb 23 February 1916 vol 80 c677
39. Mr GINNELL

asked the Home Secretary whether it is with his sanction that Irishmen who have come to Great Britain for munitions work and the erection of structures in connection therewith are now refused permission to return and informed that they come under the Military Service Act; and, if not, whether he will have this restraint removed as not warranted by that Act?

Mr. SAMUEL

I have no knowledge of any such practice. No action of the kind is being taken under the authority of the Home Office.

Mr. GINNELL

If cases are brought to the notice of the right hon. Gentleman, will he have the restraint removed?

Mr. SAMUEL

I should like to see the cases first.
