HC Deb 22 February 1915 vol 70 c32
73. Mr. PETO

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether War Office contracts for bacon are confined to Ireland and two or three co-operative bacon-curing establishments in this country; and whether, in view of the fact that the latter, being registered as friendly societies, pay no Income Tax on profits, he will in future allow other bacon-curing companies in Great Britain, who do contribute to the cost of the War, to participate in Government orders?

Mr. BAKER

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; the second does not arise.
