HC Deb 04 February 1915 vol 69 cc122-3
16. Mr. DUNCAN MILLAR

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has received official notification of the steps which have been taken by the Government of France to prohibit the sale of absinthe and other intoxicating liquors during the War; and if he will issue a White Paper setting forth any despatches or official information received by him on the subject, as was done in the case of Russia?

Sir E. GREY

His Majesty's Ambassador in Paris reports that, though there are no special Government regulations on the subject, the Prefects of most Departments have followed the example of the Prefect of Police of Paris, who has prohibited the sale of absinthe and similar liquors in all cafes and drinking saloons in his Prefecture. Copies of the two Decrees in question will be placed in the Library of the House.
