HC Deb 04 February 1915 vol 69 cc121-2
15. Mr. RONALD M'NEILL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the dispatch, dated 22nd November, 1913, from the French Ambassador at Berlin to the French Minister for Foreign Affairs (No. 6, in the French Diplomatic Correspondence, Cd. 7717), recording a conversation between the German Emperor and the King of the Belgians, was communicated, or the substance of it, to His Majesty's Government; and, if so, on what date?

Sir E. GREY

There is no record of any such communication having been made to His Majesty's Government, nor have I any recollection of allusion having been made verbally to these particular reports.

17. Mr. RONALD M'NEILL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, whether the Reports of the French military and naval attachés at Berlin, dated 15th March, 1913, or the memorandum on the strengthening of the German Army by the French Ambassador at Berlin, dated 19th March, 1913, published in the French Diplomatic Correspondence [Cd. 7717] were communicated to His Majesty's Government; if so, on what dates, respectively; and whether any and which of these documents were communicated by the Government to the Defence Committee?

Sir E. GREY

I have already answered this in replying to Question No. 15. That reply covers this question.

Mr. RONALD M'NEILL

Do I understand the right hon. Gentleman to say that the answer he gave to Question No. 15 applies equally to this question?

Sir E. GREY

Yes, Sir, it does.
