§ 58. Sir G. SCOTT ROBERTSONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether representations have been made to him to the effect that there threatens to be a shortage of qualified accountants and their skilled clerks owing to such numbers having already enlisted in the clerical branches of the Army, and that in consequence the stipulated compulsory certifying of accounts for assessment to Income Tax and war profits of both controlled and other firms and companies may be rendered impossible; whether he has any official information to this effect; and, if so, will he say how he proposes to meet the danger?
§ The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. McKenna)So far as this question concerns the Revenue, I have no information which suggests that any serious difficulty will arise.
