HC Deb 22 April 1915 vol 71 c398
47. Lord C. BERESFORD

asked the Prime Minister whether steps will be taken to confiscate a German or Austrian ship at present interned for every British merchant ship sunk by German submarines?

The PRIME MINISTER

The suggestion put forward in the question was carefully considered by His Majesty's Government, but it was decided not to adopt it for the present. This decision will not, however, preclude a reconsideration of the matter, should circumstances demand it.
