HC Deb 22 April 1915 vol 71 cc398-9
48. Lord C. BERESFORD

asked the Prime Minister if he will inform the House who is responsible for the operations in the Dardanelles; whether it was intended to be in the nature of combined naval and military operations; and whether the ultimate success of the operations will be considerably delayed owing to the naval attack having been delivered before the Army was landed?

The PRIME MINISTER

These operations are being jointly conducted by the Navy and Army in co-operation, under the responsibility of His Majesty's Government. It is not desirable at the present stage to say anything further.
