HC Deb 21 April 1915 vol 71 c261
51. Mr. HINDS

asked the Prime Minister whether, seeing that the French Government have thought it desirable to state explicitly the strength of the French forces now available, indicating also its estimate of the strength of the opposing German Army, His Majesty's Government still propose to withhold from the public the strength of the British forces now in France and of the Reserves under training in Great Britain and Ireland?

Mr. TENNANT

The publication of information on this subject would be detrimental to the public interest, and His Majesty's Government do not propose to make any disclosure of the strengths of the British Armies in the field or in training.
